NITDA’s Director of Corporate Communications and Media Relations, Hajiya Hadiza Umar, has commended the major platforms for their continued commitment to ensuring online safety.

Umar praised Google, Microsoft, and TikTok for “their continued compliance with the Code of Practice for Interactive Computer Service Platforms/Internet Intermediaries”, revealing that they removed a whopping 58,909,112 pieces of content that infringed the rules. According to Umar, these agencies acted after receiving over 754,000 complaints from users about the quality of online content, significantly pointing out the health of Nigeria’s plans for taming disturbing online interactions.
