Nigerian Ruling Party Mourns Sudden Death of Key Chieftain

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Nigeria, has been left reeling from the shocking and tragic death of Olubisi Odewumi, one of its prominent chieftains in the Ife-North local government council area. Odewumi, a former Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the Rauf Aregbesola administration, passed away suddenly on Thursday morning at the University College Hospital in Ibadan.

In a statement issued by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the state chairman of the party, Tajudeen Lawal, described Odewumi’s death as a “collosal loss” to the party, saying it would be challenging to find a suitable replacement for him in his constituency. Lawal praised Odewumi as a loyal and dedicated party member who was always available to contribute to the party’s development.

“The reported death of Honourable Olubisi Odewumi in the early hours of today was devastating to all members of the APC family,” Lawal said. “When one remembers his unconditional contributions and dedication to our party, one would be moved to tears that such an asset could be lost when his wealth of experience is most needed in the interest of our party.”

Odewumi’s death has sent shockwaves throughout the party, with many members struggling to come to terms with the loss of a man who was widely respected for his contributions to the party’s growth and development. Lawal took solace in the fact that Odewumi had lived a fulfilling life, achieving many notable aspirations during his time in politics.

“My prayer, on behalf of all our party members in Ife-North Local Government Council Area and across the state, is to grant the widow of the deceased, his children, and his political family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss of the Ashipa-born political enigma,” Lawal said.

The party’s leadership and members have expressed their deepest condolences to Odewumi’s family and loved ones, praying that they find strength and comfort in this difficult time. As the party mourns the loss of one of its key figures, it is clear that Odewumi’s legacy will live on, inspiring future generations of politicians and party members alike.
