Nigerian Army Chief Reiterates Commitment to Soldier Welfare
Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Army Staff, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerian Army personnel and their families during a three-day operational visit to the 6 Division in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Addressing journalists at the end of his visit, Oluyede emphasized that the well-being of troops and their families remains the top priority under his leadership. He stated that ensuring the welfare of soldiers is crucial to maintaining high morale and effectiveness in military operations.
The Army Chief commissioned several projects during his visit, including new administrative buildings, living quarters, and security facilities. These developments aim to enhance the operational readiness of formations under the division and improve the living conditions of soldiers.
“I want to examine the level of my soldiers’ welfare particularly, because I am someone who is very particular about the well-being of my soldiers and their families,” Oluyede said. “I promise my soldiers that I will do my very best with the support of the Federal Government to make life better for them.”
Oluyede also inaugurated additional facilities at the Elele Barracks, reinforcing his commitment to consolidate the Nigerian Army’s operational successes. He emphasized that addressing the challenges faced by soldiers in their line of duty is essential to the Army’s overall effectiveness.
The Chief of Army Staff interacted with troops and critical stakeholders in the Niger Delta region during his visit, assessing the challenges they face and exploring ways to address them within the available resources.
