Nigerian Police Crack Down on Unauthorized Use of Uniforms by Students

In a bid to maintain the integrity of the security agencies, the Adamawa State Police Command in Nigeria has initiated corrective measures against students who used police uniforms in activities marking their ‘Costume Day’. The move comes after disturbing pictures surfaced on social media, showing students wearing police and military uniforms in an indecent and unacceptable manner.

According to a press statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, the unauthorized use of police uniforms is a criminal offense punishable under the law. Such acts not only undermine the integrity of the security agencies but also mislead the public and will not be tolerated.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Morris Dankombo, has directed a full-scale investigation into the matter, with the aim of bringing all those involved to book. The Command has also warned individuals, groups, and institutions to desist from unauthorized use of security uniforms, stating that anyone found engaging in such illegal practice will be decisively dealt with in accordance with the law.

This move highlights the importance of maintaining the dignity and respect of the security agencies, as well as the need to prevent the misuse of their uniforms. The Adamawa State Police Command’s actions serve as a reminder that the unauthorized use of police uniforms is a serious offense that will not be taken lightly.

The incident has sparked concerns about the potential consequences of such actions, including the erosion of public trust in the security agencies. It also underscores the need for students and other individuals to be aware of the laws and regulations governing the use of security uniforms.

As the investigation continues, the Adamawa State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to upholding the law and maintaining the integrity of the security agencies. The Command’s actions demonstrate its dedication to ensuring that those who engage in unauthorized use of police uniforms are held accountable for their actions.
