The Nigerian Army has conducted a series of operations across the country, resulting in the neutralization of 15 terrorists, the arrest of 42 criminal suspects, and the rescue of 30 kidnapped victims. According to a source at Army Headquarters, these coordinated operations were carried out in various regions, including the North East, North West, North Central, South West, and South South zones.

In the North East, specifically in Borno and Yobe States, troops foiled planned attacks by ISWAP and Boko Haram in areas such as Dikwa, Gwoza, Bama, Banki, and Gujba. The operations led to the killing of 15 terrorists, while others fled, abandoning rifles, ammunition, grenades, explosives, motorcycles, and communication equipment.

In addition to counter-terrorism efforts, the Nigerian Army also collaborated with the police and other security agencies to arrest suspects involved in illicit activities. In Kaduna State, 15 suspects were arrested for their involvement in illicit drug activities, while 25 suspects were apprehended in Bayelsa and two in Delta for oil theft.

The army also reported successes in rescue operations, with 27 kidnapped passengers freed in Benue State and three others rescued in Borno and Sokoto following intense gun battles with terrorists. Furthermore, troops uncovered and destroyed illegal crude oil bunkering sites in Imo, Rivers, and Delta States, recovering thousands of litres of stolen petroleum products.

In a separate operation, a drug syndicate was intercepted in Ogun State with a large quantity of cannabis. The Nigerian Army’s efforts demonstrate its commitment to maintaining national security and highlight the importance of inter-agency collaboration in tackling terrorism and criminal activities. These operations also aim to create safer environments that support agricultural productivity, aligning with the Federal Government’s food security agenda.

The Nigerian Army’s recent operations underscore the ongoing challenges posed by terrorism and criminal activities in the country. However, the success of these operations demonstrates the army’s capabilities and its determination to address these threats. As the army continues to work with other security agencies to maintain national security, its efforts are expected to contribute to a safer and more stable environment for citizens.
