The All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Enugu State, Nigeria, have publicly declared their support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. This declaration was made in a communique issued after a one-day meeting held in Enugu. The stakeholders expressed their readiness to welcome Governor Peter Mbah into the party, signaling a potential shift in the state’s political landscape.
The communique, signed by various party leaders, including former Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Eugene Odoh, and Acting State Chairman, Alphonsus Nwafor, praised President Tinubu’s leadership style, describing it as “transformative.” The stakeholders endorsed him for a second term in office, citing his vision for the country’s advancement.
The APC stakeholders also addressed internal party issues, including the status of Ugochukwu Agbala, who they claim is not the legitimate State Chairman of the party in Enugu. They stated that Agbala’s removal was effected by a court order and warned that any decisions made with his participation would be subject to litigation.
Furthermore, the stakeholders announced plans to investigate the educational credentials of Chief Uchenna Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology. They intend to verify the authenticity of his graduation and NYSC certificates by contacting the University of Nigeria’s Vice Chancellor.
The communique also disputed claims that Chief Nnaji won the Enugu East Senatorial District election in 1999, alleging that he was merely a placeholder for another politician. The stakeholders apologized to the people of Enugu State for the embarrassment caused by Chief Nnaji’s actions during a recent bye-election.
The APC stakeholders’ decision to welcome Governor Peter Mbah into the party is seen as a strategic move to bolster the party’s presence in the state. With the 2027 general elections approaching, the party’s support for President Tinubu and its efforts to resolve internal issues may impact the political dynamics in Enugu State and beyond. As the Nigerian political landscape continues to evolve, the actions of the APC stakeholders in Enugu State will be closely watched by political observers and analysts.
