Nigeria’s crude oil production has increased to 1.71 million barrels per day, with the Forcados oil terminal leading the way. According to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, the terminal produced 9.04 million barrels in July, up from 8.85 million barrels in June. This growth contributes to the country’s overall crude production, which comprises 1.507 million barrels per day of crude oil and 204,864 barrels per day of condensates.
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission reported that the country’s crude production has seen a 9.9 percent year-on-year increase from July 2024, when it produced 1.56 million barrels per day. However, the month-on-month increase is more modest, at 0.89 percent, compared to the 1.69 million barrels per day recorded in June 2025.
Other major oil terminals in Nigeria also showed significant production levels in July. The Bonny terminal produced 8.07 million barrels, followed by the Qua Iboe terminal with 4.55 million barrels. The Escravos terminal produced 4.47 million barrels, while the Bonga terminal recorded 3.68 million barrels. The Odudu terminal, which produces the Amenam blend, had 2.12 million barrels, and the Tulja-Okwuibome terminal produced 2.08 million barrels. The Brass terminal recorded the lowest production level among the major terminals, with 1.12 million barrels.
Nigeria’s federal budget for 2025 is benchmarked at an oil price of around $75 per barrel, with a production target of 2.06 million barrels per day. However, the country has yet to achieve this target. The increase in crude oil production is a step towards meeting this goal, but the government still faces challenges in reaching its target.
The growth in Nigeria’s crude oil production is significant, given the country’s reliance on oil exports. The increase in production levels, particularly at the Forcados terminal, demonstrates the potential for Nigeria’s oil industry to contribute to the country’s economic growth. As the country continues to work towards meeting its production target, it is essential to monitor the progress and address any challenges that may arise.
