Tinubu to win South-East votes in 2027 election says Minister

Tinubu will sweep South-East votes in 2027, says Onyejeocha — Daily Nigerian

Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has expressed confidence that the five South-East states will unanimously support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections. Onyejeocha made this statement during an interactive session with journalists at her free medical and surgery outreach program in Abia.

The minister attributed her optimism to the significant reforms implemented by the Tinubu administration across the country. She believes that these reforms will yield positive results and improve the lives of citizens, thereby securing their support for the president’s re-election bid. Onyejeocha emphasized that the reforms require a longer tenure to take root and benefit the people, hence the need for an eight-year term.

The free medical outreach, which is in its 18th edition, is an initiative borne out of Onyejeocha’s commitment to improving the well-being of her constituents. The program provides various medical services, including cervical cancer screening, laboratory tests, dental care, and surgeries for hernia, hydrocele, and cataract, among others. This year’s edition has been extended to cater to the large number of people who have turned out to benefit from the services.

Onyejeocha stated that her objective is to support the government’s efforts in improving healthcare, particularly in rural areas and underserved communities. She acknowledged that the government cannot tackle all health challenges alone and sees her outreach program as a way to add value to its initiatives. By providing access to quality healthcare, Onyejeocha aims to contribute to the overall well-being of her community, recognizing that a healthy population is essential for economic growth and development.

The minister’s assertion of support for President Tinubu in 2027 is significant, given the political landscape of the South-East region. As the country approaches the next election cycle, political alignments and alliances are likely to shift. Onyejeocha’s statement may indicate a growing trend of support for the president’s re-election bid in the region. However, the outcome of the 2027 elections will depend on various factors, including the performance of the current administration and the preferences of the electorate.
