Liberia’s National Day at Expo 2025 Osaka served as a platform for strengthening international ties, promoting cultural exchange, and fostering economic diplomacy. Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti represented President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, calling on global partners to transition from dialogue to actionable investments that create jobs and drive development.
Minister Nyanti emphasized the link between diplomacy and economic progress, stating that “diplomacy opens doors, but it is investment and trade that must walk through it, and jobs and livelihoods that ultimately secure dignity for our people.” She highlighted Liberia’s alignment with the Expo’s theme, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” through its pavilion, which showcases the country’s commitment to transforming lives through education, entrepreneurship, and sustainable growth.
The minister presented Liberia’s ARREST Agenda, a comprehensive development blueprint aimed at accelerating national growth and improving livelihoods. She urged Japanese and global investors to explore opportunities in agribusiness, energy, ICT, and tourism, emphasizing that strategic investments could transform Liberia into a regional food hub and support industrial growth.
Japan’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fujii Hisayuki, praised Liberia’s resilience and democratic progress, highlighting the long-standing cooperation between the two nations. He noted that Expo 2025 presents an opportunity to strengthen their bond and yield shared benefits.
The event featured a performance of the Liberian National Anthem by Japanese students, symbolizing people-to-people diplomacy and the importance of education and cultural exchange in fostering international understanding. Traditional Liberian dances, music, and art were also showcased, promoting tourism and creativity as drivers of economic growth.
