Lagos Police to Conduct IED Simulation Exercise at Eko Atlantic City

The Lagos State Police Command has announced plans to conduct a simulated Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exercise at Eko Atlantic City on August 28. This routine security drill aims to enhance the command’s emergency response capabilities and should not cause concern among residents, workers, or visitors in the area.

According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Nigeria Police Force Explosives Ordnance Disposal–Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Unit will oversee the exercise. The simulation is designed to test the command’s preparedness and response capacity in the event of a bomb-related emergency. Specialized teams trained to handle explosive threats will conduct controlled detonations during the drill.

While residents may hear blast sounds, the police have assured that there will be no accompanying danger, shrapnel, or risk to the public. The command has advised people in and around the area to remain calm and continue with their normal activities. Adequate safety measures have been put in place to ensure the operation is carried out smoothly.

The state Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has called for the cooperation and understanding of the public, reiterating the command’s commitment to the safety and well-being of all residents. The exercise is part of the command’s efforts to strengthen its emergency response capabilities and ensure public safety.

The Lagos State Police Command’s decision to conduct the simulation exercise reflects its proactive approach to addressing potential security threats. By testing its response capabilities, the command can identify areas for improvement and enhance its ability to respond to emergency situations. The exercise is scheduled to take place on August 28, and the command has assured that it will not disrupt normal activities in the area. With the simulation exercise, the Lagos State Police Command aims to reassure the public of its commitment to maintaining law and order in the state.
