APC ignores 2027 politics focuses on governance

Our party not distracted by 2027 politicking — Daily Nigerian

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims that the party is prioritizing politics over governance ahead of the 2027 elections. In a statement released on Friday, APC Spokesman Seye Oladejo responded to recent remarks made by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who accused the APC and the Federal Government of focusing on politics rather than governance.

Oladejo described Governor Mohammed’s accusation as a “misplaced outburst from a frustrated opposition,” emphasizing that President Bola Tinubu and the APC remain committed to their governance agenda. He highlighted the administration’s focus on bold reforms in the economy, security, infrastructure, and institutional development, stating that the government is addressing the challenges of nation-building head-on.

The APC spokesman urged Governor Mohammed to look to Lagos State as an example of effective governance under the APC, citing the state’s consistent and visionary leadership. Oladejo emphasized that governance is about delivering real results, rather than making press statements. He assured that the APC is not distracted by the upcoming 2027 elections, and that the party’s performance will serve as its campaign when the time comes.

Oladejo also encouraged Governor Mohammed to channel his energy into addressing the developmental needs of Bauchi State, rather than making baseless attacks on the APC and the Federal Government. The APC respects the right of opposition leaders to express their views, but finds it regrettable that Governor Mohammed would make such statements.

The exchange between the APC and Governor Mohammed comes as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 elections. The APC has been focused on implementing its governance agenda, while opposition leaders have been criticizing the party’s priorities. The situation highlights the ongoing political dynamics in Nigeria, with different parties and leaders presenting their visions for the country’s future. As the election season approaches, it is likely that such exchanges will continue, with each side seeking to promote its agenda and criticize its opponents.
