Nigerian Army Foils Terror Attacks, Rescues Kidnap Victims and Recovers Arms
In a series of operations across different states, the Nigerian Army has successfully foiled terror attacks, rescued kidnap victims, and recovered arms and equipment within the last 24 hours. According to a credible source at Army Headquarters, the operations were conducted in Kebbi, Katsina, Edo, Niger, Plateau, and Abia States.
In Kebbi State, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA responded to a distress call on terrorist activities in Dundaye village, Augie Local Government Area, on Friday at about 7:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered that terrorists had killed two civilians and rustled cattle. Although the troops pursued the criminals, no contact was made. The army continues to dominate the area with patrols to deny terrorists freedom of action.
Similarly, in Katsina State, troops of 17 Brigade responded to gunshots in Layin Minista village, Malumfashi Local Government Area, at about 10:50 p.m. on the same day. The terrorists fled after abducting two women, and the troops are maintaining aggressive patrols in the area to restore public confidence and secure the release of the victims.
In Edo State, troops of 4 Brigade under Operation MESA conducted a Search and Rescue operation in Ugboha community, Esan South-East Local Government Area, at midnight on August 29. They rescued a civilian who was kidnapped on August 27 while on his way to farm. Efforts are ongoing to reunite him with his family.
Additionally, troops of FOB Babanna in Niger State recovered an AK-47 magazine loaded with 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition abandoned by insurgents during a previous encounter. The military has reassured that it remains focused on neutralizing threats, rescuing victims, and restoring peace across the country.
The Nigerian Army’s efforts to combat terrorism and insecurity have been ongoing, with troops deployed in various operations across the country. The recent successes demonstrate the army’s commitment to safeguarding citizens and denying criminals the freedom to operate. As the military continues to intensify its operations, it is likely that more terror attacks will be foiled, and kidnap victims will be rescued, ultimately contributing to the restoration of peace and stability in Nigeria.
