Abia ADC Denies Chairman Suspension Claim

The Abia State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has denied reports that its State Chairman, Don Norman Obinna, has been suspended from the party. In a press statement, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Chiamaka Ohaja, described the publication as “false, unauthorized, and deliberately misleading.”

According to the statement, there is no factional crisis within the state chapter of the ADC, contrary to the impression created by the alleged report. Ohaja reaffirmed Obinna’s position as the duly recognized Chairman, emphasizing that only the National Executive Committee (NEC) has the constitutional authority to suspend a State Chairman.

The party warned that individuals responsible for spreading what it termed “self-serving propaganda” would be sanctioned according to the party’s disciplinary procedures. The press release stated that the misleading report is an attempt to destabilize the party and mislead the public, urging members and the general public to disregard it in its entirety.

The ADC’s swift response aims to clarify the situation and reassure its members and supporters of the party’s stability. The denial of the suspension report suggests that the party is working to maintain unity and cohesion within its ranks. The incident highlights the importance of verifying information through official channels to avoid spreading misinformation.

In the context of Nigerian politics, the ADC is one of the country’s prominent political parties, with a presence in various states, including Abia. The party’s leadership has been working to strengthen its structure and prepare for future elections. The current situation in Abia State is a testament to the party’s efforts to address internal issues and present a united front.

The ADC’s leadership has called on its members and the public to remain vigilant and focused on the party’s goals, rather than being swayed by unfounded reports. As the party moves forward, it is likely to continue emphasizing the importance of unity and stability in its ranks. With the denial of the suspension report, the ADC has taken a step towards reassuring its supporters and maintaining its position as a major player in Nigerian politics.
