Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, has advised activist Deji Adeyanju to be open about his support for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC). Fayose made this statement in response to Adeyanju’s recent criticisms of Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State.
Adeyanju has repeatedly accused Obi of being a “fraud” and has claimed to have evidence to prove it. He has also labeled Obi a “manipulator” and “religious bigot.” These statements have led many to speculate that Adeyanju’s actions are being sponsored by the APC government. Obi has since taken Adeyanju to court, demanding that he provide evidence to support his claims.
Fayose suggested that Adeyanju is following in the footsteps of former presidential aide Reno Omokri, who gained attention from the Tinubu administration by criticizing Obi. Fayose urged Adeyanju to stop using Obi as a means to gain attention and instead be honest about his support for the APC.
In a video statement, Fayose said, “If you want to join the APC, do so freely. Stop using Obi to score cheap points.” He questioned Adeyanju’s motives, asking what Obi had done to him and why he felt the need to criticize him. Fayose also noted that Adeyanju’s actions seemed to be an attempt to gain favor with the APC without alienating his associates, such as Omoyele Sowore.
The situation highlights the ongoing tensions and alliances within Nigerian politics. As the country navigates its complex political landscape, activists and politicians alike are being called upon to be transparent about their affiliations and intentions. In this case, Fayose’s statement serves as a reminder that honesty and openness are essential in building trust and credibility. With Obi’s court case against Adeyanju pending, the outcome will likely have significant implications for the parties involved and the broader political climate in Nigeria.
