Alhaji Muhammad Bello Adamu, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State, has announced his resignation from the party to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). In a statement, he explained that personal conviction and a desire to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s democratic process motivated his decision. “I have decided to take a new political direction by joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This decision is based on personal conviction and my desire to continue contributing meaningfully to our democratic thoughts on a new platform,” he said.
Adamu, also known as Cikasoro, expressed gratitude to the PDP for the experiences and opportunities he received during his membership. He emphasized that leaving the party was not a decision taken lightly and that he deeply appreciates the time he spent as a PDP member.
The move is viewed as a significant development in Nigeria’s political landscape, especially in Gombe State, where the PDP has traditionally held a strong presence. The ADC, a notable opposition party, aims to promote democratic values and good governance. Adamu’s defection may signal a shift in the political alignment of some PDP members and could influence the outcome of future elections in the state.
As Nigeria’s political scene continues to evolve, the departure of prominent figures like Adamu may affect the balance of power nationwide. Political observers will be watching closely to see how his decision impacts the dynamics between the PDP and the ADC in Gombe State. With elections on the horizon, parties are gearing up for intense competition, and the defection of key individuals could play a significant role in shaping the country’s political future.
