Kano Assembly approves N215.3bn supplementary budget

The Kano State House of Assembly has approved a supplementary budget of N215.3 billion, responding to a request from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. The decision followed extensive debates and a detailed review by lawmakers during a plenary session chaired by Speaker Jibril Ismail Falgore. According to a statement from the Speaker’s Chief Press Secretary, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, the exact approved amount is N215,378,374,543.62.

The supplementary budget is intended to support a range of projects and initiatives across the state. The Speaker assured that the House will closely monitor expenditures by ministries and agencies to ensure accountability and transparency, thereby promoting good governance and responsible financial management.

This approval marks a significant development in the state’s financial management, enabling the government to address pressing needs and priorities. By endorsing the budget, the Assembly demonstrates its commitment to supporting the state government’s efforts to improve citizens’ livelihoods and to meeting the needs of the population.

With the budget now approved, attention will shift to implementation. The state government is expected to work closely with the Assembly to ensure efficient use of the funds. The House’s oversight role will be critical in achieving the budget’s objectives, preventing mismanagement, and guaranteeing that resources benefit the citizens.

As the supplementary budget is implemented, the government is anticipated to provide regular updates on progress and outcomes, keeping the public informed of the impact of these financial allocations.
