Anambra Governorship: Nwosu Refuses to Step Down

Anambra Poll: LP guber aspirant, Nwosu dismisses Moghalu's emergence as candidate

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Anambra State governorship election, Mr. John Nwosu, has reaffirmed his commitment to contesting the upcoming election, scheduled for November 8. Despite a recent meeting with the Labour Party candidate, Dr. George Moghalu, at his country home in Nnewi, Nwosu maintained that he will not step down for any candidate.

The meeting between the two candidates, both from Nnewi, aimed to discuss the election and the potential split of votes in the industrial town. Prior to the meeting, Moghalu had suggested that the two candidates would harmonize their positions to ensure a united front from Nnewi. However, Nwosu’s campaign council has now clarified that he intends to pursue the election to its conclusion.

According to a press release issued by the Director General of Nwosu’s campaign council, Hon. Bonny Okoye, the ADC candidate emphasized the need for a clean and focused campaign. Nwosu believes that the voters of Anambra State should ultimately decide who will be the next governor, and therefore, the possibility of stepping down for another candidate is not being considered.

The Anambra State governorship election is expected to be highly contested, with the Labour Party and ADC candidates being considered top contenders alongside the incumbent Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, representing the All Progressives Grand Alliance, and Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, representing the All Progressives Congress.

As the election approaches, the candidates are gearing up for a competitive campaign. The ADC’s decision to remain in the race is likely to impact the overall dynamics of the election. With the voters of Anambra State set to make their decision on November 8, the candidates will need to convince them of their vision and ability to lead the state effectively. The outcome of the election will be closely watched, and the next few weeks will be crucial in determining the future of Anambra State.
