The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced the appointment of two senior executives, Andy Odeh and Morenike Adewunmi, to key positions. Odeh has been named Chief Corporate Communications Officer, while Adewunmi takes on the role of Chief Relations Officer.
The appointment of Odeh comes two months after the resignation of Femi Soneye, the former spokesperson for NNPC. With over three decades of experience in communications and business administration, Odeh brings a wealth of knowledge to his new position. His background spans the oil and gas, advertising, and broadcasting industries, including a 26-year tenure at Nigeria LNG (NLNG), where he held various leadership roles in community relations, business logistics, and corporate communications.
At NLNG, Odeh successfully managed the company’s rebranding and implemented a micro-credit scheme for host communities. He also instituted the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting, showcasing his expertise in public relations and advertising. Odeh’s educational background includes degrees from the University of Jos, University of Lagos, INSEAD Business School, and the Nigeria Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
Adewunmi, a legal professional with over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, has been appointed Chief Relations Officer. Her expertise lies in stakeholder management and advocacy, particularly from her extensive tenure at the Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCIN). Adewunmi is highly regarded for her ability to navigate complex external landscapes, ensuring regulatory compliance and protecting the company’s “License to operate.”
The appointments of Odeh and Adewunmi are significant, as they bring a high level of expertise and experience to the NNPCL. The company’s decision to fill these key positions underscores its commitment to effective communication, stakeholder management, and regulatory compliance. As the national oil company continues to evolve, the roles of Odeh and Adewunmi will be crucial in shaping its public image and relationships with key stakeholders. With their combined experience, NNPCL is poised to enhance its operations and reputation in the oil and gas industry.
