Jibrin Urges Tinubu, Kwankwaso Alliance

A Nigerian lawmaker has urged President Bola Tinubu and former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, to collaborate. Abdulmumin Jibrin, representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in Kano State, made this suggestion, emphasizing the importance of Tinubu completing the South’s eight-year term as president.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Jibrin expressed his admiration for President Tinubu, stating that he would choose Kwankwaso and Tinubu to work together, with Tinubu at the helm. Jibrin’s comments come amid speculation about Kwankwaso’s potential defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections. As a prominent figure in the North with a significant following, Kwankwaso has long been an ally of President Tinubu.

The call for collaboration between Tinubu and Kwankwaso is notable, given the latter’s influence in the North. Kwankwaso’s potential joining of the APC could significantly impact the party’s fortunes in the upcoming elections. Jibrin’s suggestion highlights the complexities of Nigerian politics, where alliances and collaborations can play a crucial role in shaping the country’s political landscape.

President Tinubu’s presidency is seen as an opportunity for the South to complete its eight-year term, a notion that Jibrin supports. The lawmaker’s comments also underscore the importance of regional balance in Nigerian politics, where the North and South often have competing interests. As the country prepares for the 2027 elections, the potential partnership between Tinubu and Kwankwaso could be a significant factor in shaping the electoral landscape.

The proposed collaboration between the two leaders may have far-reaching implications for Nigerian politics, particularly in terms of regional representation and balance. As the APC and other parties prepare for the upcoming elections, the role of key figures like Kwankwaso and Tinubu will be closely watched. With Jibrin’s suggestion, attention will be focused on whether this potential partnership can materialize and what impact it may have on the country’s political future.
