Nnamdi Kanu IPOB alleges propaganda ahead of October ruling

October 10 court ruling: IPOB alleged plot to condition minds of international community

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has expressed concerns over an alleged propaganda campaign aimed at influencing international opinion ahead of a crucial court ruling on October 10, 2025. The group’s leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is scheduled to appear before Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja on that date.

According to a statement by IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, certain individuals are deliberately suppressing positive reports about Kanu, while circulating negative stories to discredit him. The group believes this is an attempt to condition the minds of the international community and sway public opinion in anticipation of the judgment.

IPOB claims that this is not the first instance of Kanu’s identity being misrepresented, citing an incident prior to his arrest in 2021. The group argues that such distortions are paving the way for a “pre-arranged judgment” against its leader. IPOB has called on the United Nations, the United States Congress, the Human Rights Council, and international media organizations to take note of this trend, emphasizing that history will hold those responsible accountable.

In a related development, self-proclaimed Biafra prime minister, Simon Ekpa, was recently convicted by the Finnish government. However, IPOB has distanced itself from Ekpa’s activities, stating that it is not connected to his actions and is not bothered by his conviction.

The October 10 ruling is significant, as it may have implications for the separatist movement and its leader. IPOB has been advocating for the independence of the Biafra region from Nigeria, and the group’s activities have been closely monitored by the international community. As the court date approaches, IPOB is urging the international community to remain vigilant and ensure that the judgment is fair and unbiased. The group’s concerns over propaganda and misinformation highlight the need for accurate and balanced reporting on this sensitive issue.
