Trump National Doral to host 2026 G20 summit

US President Donald Trump has announced that the 2026 G20 summit will be held at his Trump National Doral Miami resort. The announcement was made during an Oval Office event, where the president praised the venue. Located just outside Miami, the resort features a golf course, spa, restaurants, pool, and approximately 100,000 square feet of meeting space, including the Donald J. Trump Grand Ballroom.

The G20 consists of 19 countries, the European Union, and the African Union. US officials have estimated that the 2026 meetings will take place in early to mid-October, although exact dates have not been finalized. This year, President Trump will not attend the summit in South Africa, and instead, Vice President JD Vance will represent the United States.

President Trump had previously attempted to host the 2020 G7 at Doral but later withdrew the proposal. The Trump National Doral resort has also been selected to host the 2026 Miami Championship on the PGA Tour schedule, marking the first time the tour has returned to the venue in around ten years. The course, which covers over 600 acres, includes four championship courses: Blue Monster, Golden Palm, Red Tiger, and Silver Fox.

The Blue Monster course has a storied history, having hosted golf legends such as Billy Casper, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Ben Hogan. The Doral Open was held at the venue from 1962 to 2006, and later, the WGC Cadillac Championship was staged from 2007 to 2016. The Miami Championship, scheduled to take place from April 27 to May 3, will be a signature event on the 2026 PGA Tour calendar, offering 700 FedEx Cup points to the champion.

The selection of Trump National Doral as the host venue for the 2026 G20 summit and the Miami Championship is significant, as it highlights the resort’s reputation as a premier destination for international events and golf tournaments. With its extensive facilities and rich golfing history, the Trump National Doral resort is poised to play a prominent role in both the political and sporting arenas.
