A recent joint operation between the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai and ground troops has resulted in the neutralization of over 30 terrorists in Borno State, Nigeria. According to a statement by the Nigerian Air Force, the operation took place on Friday at Dar-El-Jamal village in Bama Local Government Area, in response to reports of heavy terrorist engagement against friendly forces.
The air component swiftly deployed an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Air Interdiction (AI) mission, establishing contact with ground forces in Banki who confirmed that reinforcements were en route to support troops. Upon arrival at Dar Jamel, the aircrew visually identified friendly forces before ISR scans revealed terrorists fleeing northwards towards nearby bushes.
In a series of precise and successive strikes, the fleeing terrorists were decisively engaged, resulting in the neutralization of over 30 insurgents. Shortly afterwards, reinforcement troops arrived at the location, secured the area, and stabilized the situation. This coordinated success highlights the effective synergy between air and ground forces, underscoring the importance of joint efforts in counterterrorism operations.
The Nigerian Air Force has reiterated its commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, protecting vulnerable communities, and restoring lasting peace to the North East and beyond. In collaboration with sister services and other security agencies, the NAF aims to ensure the safety and security of all citizens across the country. The operation is a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the region, and demonstrates the effectiveness of coordinated military action in achieving this goal.
The North East region of Nigeria has been plagued by terrorist activity in recent years, with groups such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) carrying out attacks on civilians and military personnel. The Nigerian military has been working to combat this threat, with Operations Hadin Kai and Lafiya Dole being key components of this effort. The success of the recent joint operation is a testament to the progress being made in this regard, and highlights the importance of continued cooperation and coordination between military and security agencies.
