Nollywood Actor Yemi Solade Reveals Reason For 10 Year Church Absence

Nigerian actor Yemi Solade has discussed his decision to stop attending church services over a decade ago, citing personal experiences that conflicted with his career and mental well-being. In an interview on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Solade recalled a turning point in 2013 when a pastor at his former church advised him to decline acting jobs scheduled on Sundays.

This directive reportedly made Solade uncomfortable, as it directly impacted his profession and livelihood. He explained that the situation led him to reevaluate the balance between his faith and personal life, ultimately resulting in his decision to step back from regular church attendance. Solade stated that his absence from church services has not negatively affected his life, contrary to the widely held notion that one’s life will deteriorate without regular church attendance.

Instead, he claimed that his life has remained stable and even more peaceful since he stopped attending church services. Solade emphasized that he has been able to focus better on his family and acting career without the constant pressure of church committees and programs that often consumed his time. He noted that he used to receive numerous messages and disturbances on a daily basis when he was attending church, which have since ceased.

Solade clarified that his choice to stop attending church services was not a rejection of his faith, but rather a conscious decision to avoid unhealthy pressures that hinder personal growth and productivity. He expressed that his decision has allowed him to prioritize his family and career, leading to a more peaceful and stable life.

The actor’s decision to speak publicly about his experiences may resonate with others who have faced similar conflicts between their personal and professional lives. Solade’s career in the Nigerian film industry, also known as Nollywood, has spanned many years, and his perspective on the importance of balancing faith and personal life may be of interest to his fans and the wider public. By sharing his story, Solade highlights the importance of prioritizing one’s well-being and making choices that align with one’s values and goals.
