Some residents of Kano State have commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,
for conducting peaceful Presidential and the National Assembly, NASS, elections on Feb. 25.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Nigerians went to the polls on Feb. 25 for Presidential and National Assembly, NASS, elections and the results announced on Wednesday, March 1, by INEC.
INEC declared Sen. Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as President-elect for scoring 8,794,726 million votes.
A housewife, Maryam Umar, who also commended Nigerians for orderly conduct during the elections, said “all
we want is a leader who has the interest of the masses.
“May the almighty make it easy for him to fulfill the promises he made to Nigerians.”
Another Kano resident, Rabiu Khalifa, commended the electorate, particularly women and youths
for conduct exhibited during the polls.
He said “may Almighty God give Tinubu the strength to take Nigeria to a greater height and also resolve the issue of cashless policy.”
Sadiya Sani, also living in Kano, commended INEC and Nigerians for the orderly conduct of the elections.
She urged Nigerians to give the president-elect the necessary cooperation to move Nigeria forward.
Sani also called on Tinubu to implement the 35 per cent affirmative action for women, especially in political appointments and other offices.
Mr Tinubu, former Governor of Lagos State, scored 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who polled 6,984,520 votes and Peter Obi of Labour Party who secured 6,101,533 votes.
