Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has given the go-ahead for the immediate reconstruction of the ‘Yanshana Bridge in Kumbotso Local Government Area, which collapsed three days ago. The governor’s announcement came after residents of ‘Yanshana staged a peaceful protest at the Government House to bring their plight to his attention.
The bridge’s collapse has significantly disrupted the daily activities of residents, prompting them to seek the governor’s intervention. In response, Governor Yusuf assured the protesters that the State Executive Council would formally approve the commencement of work on the bridge at its meeting on Wednesday.
In addition to reconstructing the bridge, the governor has also directed the completion of an abandoned secondary school project in the ‘Yanshana community. This move aims to address the educational needs of the area and provide residents with better access to quality education. Furthermore, Governor Yusuf has instructed the Chairman of Kumbotso Local Government to allocate land for a new cemetery to serve the people of ‘Yanshana, addressing a critical infrastructure need in the community.
The reconstruction of the ‘Yanshana Bridge and the completion of the secondary school project are expected to have a positive impact on the daily lives of residents in the area. The provision of a new cemetery will also help to alleviate the challenges faced by the community in terms of burial arrangements. With the governor’s prompt response to the protesters’ concerns, the Kano State government has demonstrated its commitment to addressing the needs of its citizens and providing essential infrastructure to support their well-being.
The State Executive Council’s formal approval of the bridge reconstruction project is anticipated to pave the way for the timely completion of the work, enabling residents to resume their normal activities without further disruption. As the projects get underway, the Kano State government will likely continue to monitor progress and ensure that the needs of the ‘Yanshana community are adequately addressed.
