Ninalowo impersonator scams woman N33 million

A Nigerian woman, Victoria Ayano, has allegedly been scammed out of N33 million by an individual claiming to be famous actor Bolanle Ninalowo. According to a petition filed with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the impersonator, identified as Bolanle Azeez, posed as the actor to obtain the significant sum of money.

Ninalowo has since responded to the incident, expressing shock and disbelief on social media. He questioned the legitimacy of the scam, stating that he has never received such a large payment for a film role. The actor’s reaction highlights the severity of the situation, with N33 million being a substantial amount of money.

This incident is not the first time Ninalowo has dealt with impersonation. In 2023, a man was sentenced to prison for posing as the actor. More recently, in March 2025, Ninalowo spoke out about the numerous fake accounts created in his name on platforms like TikTok, which are used to defraud unsuspecting users.

The EFCC’s investigation into the matter is ongoing, with the petition serving as a formal complaint against the alleged impersonator. The situation underscores the importance of verifying identities and being cautious when interacting with individuals online, especially when financial transactions are involved.

Ninalowo’s experience with impersonation is a concern for public figures, as it can damage their reputation and cause financial harm to others. The actor’s efforts to raise awareness about the issue and cooperate with authorities may help prevent similar incidents in the future. As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen what actions will be taken against the alleged impersonator and what measures will be implemented to protect against such scams.
