Chelsea injury update Cole Palmer still sidelined ahead of Brentford game

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has provided an update on the fitness of several key players ahead of the team’s upcoming match against Brentford. Notably, Cole Palmer has not yet returned to full training after limping off during the pre-match warm-up prior to the 5-1 win against West Ham. Palmer also missed the 2-0 victory against Fulham before the international break due to the injury.

Maresca revealed that Palmer participated in part of the team’s session yesterday, marking his first involvement since the injury. However, the manager cautioned that Palmer’s recovery is ongoing and that his availability for the Brentford match is uncertain. “We have one more session, we are going to try with him. We will see if it is okay. Otherwise, he will be out again tomorrow,” Maresca explained.

In addition to Palmer’s status, Maresca confirmed that striker Liam Delap will be sidelined for an extended period after suffering a hamstring injury against Fulham. The expected recovery time for Delap is between 10 to 12 weeks, which will significantly impact Chelsea’s attacking options. New signing Alejandro Garnacho, who joined from Manchester United, is also not fully fit and is currently working to reach optimal condition. According to Maresca, Garnacho “arrived not 100 per cent fit” but is making progress in his training.

These updates on player fitness come at a crucial time for Chelsea as they prepare to face Brentford. The team’s ability to manage injuries and integrate new signings will be important factors in determining their success in the upcoming match. With Palmer’s status still uncertain and Delap ruled out for an extended period, Maresca will need to carefully consider his lineup and strategy to ensure the team’s competitiveness. As the season progresses, the fitness and availability of key players like Palmer, Delap, and Garnacho will be closely monitored by fans and analysts alike.
