The Nigerian Army has reported significant successes in its ongoing operations against terrorists and kidnappers across the country. Over the past 24 hours, troops have neutralized several terrorists, apprehended 11 suspects, and rescued 39 kidnapped victims in various regions, including the North East, North Central, and North West.
According to a reliable source at the Army Headquarters, troops of Operation Hadin Kai conducted operations in Borno, resulting in the neutralization of one terrorist and the recovery of arms and ammunition. The troops also foiled attempted attacks in Dikwa and Gubio Local Government Areas and dismantled an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) along the Baga-Cross Kauwa road in Kukawa Local Government Area.
In Kaduna and Katsina States, troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA cleared terrorist hideouts, recovered arms, and rescued a soldier who was abducted in July in Zamfara. Additionally, troops of the 12 Brigade in Kogi State, in collaboration with hybrid forces and vigilantes, rescued 17 kidnap victims after tracing their abductors to a hideout in Adavi Local Government Area. The victims received medical attention after being evacuated.
Troops of Operations Enduring Peace and Whirl Stroke in Plateau and Benue States apprehended six suspects for kidnapping, cattle rustling, and militia activities. They also repelled an extremist attack on Nteng village in Quan-Pan Local Government Area of Plateau, forcing the insurgents to flee after sustaining casualties. Furthermore, troops rescued two kidnap victims in Benue State, one of whom had been held since July.
In Niger and Kogi States, troops arrested three suspected kidnappers and recovered cash, arms, ammunition, and other items. The Joint Task Force South-South (OPDS) discovered and destroyed over 5,000 liters of suspected stolen crude oil and illegally refined AGO in Bayelsa and Rivers States during anti-bunkering operations.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has urged troops to sustain their offensive against terrorists and other criminals across the country. The military has called on Nigerians to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing operations. The recent successes demonstrate the Armed Forces’ resolve to deny criminals freedom of action across the country, and the military remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of Nigerian citizens.
