In the northern region, isolated thunderstorms with moderate rain are expected in the afternoon and evening, with a likelihood of flash floods in Adamawa, Taraba, and Gombe states. The central region will witness a cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine on Monday morning, accompanied by moderate rainfall over Niger, Kogi, Kwara, the Federal Capital Territory, and Benue. Thunderstorms with moderate rains are forecast over most parts of the central region later in the day.
The southern region will see moderate rains in Ekiti, Ondo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states, with cloudy skies and moderate rains anticipated over most parts of the region later in the day. On Tuesday, the northern region will experience cloudy skies with sunshine intervals, with isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains expected over Borno, Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Taraba, and Adamawa.
The agency has also warned of thunderstorms with moderate rains over Kano, Jigawa, Yobe, Katsina, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Taraba states later in the day. In the central region, cloudy skies with sunshine intervals are expected on Tuesday morning, with moderate rains over Kogi, Niger, the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara, and Nasarawa states. The southern region will see cloudy skies with chances of moderate rains in Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi, and Delta states.
On Wednesday, cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are expected over the northern region, accompanied by slim chances of thunderstorms and light rain. The agency has advised motorists to avoid driving during heavy rainfall and urged farmers to avoid applying fertilizer or pesticides before rainfall to prevent nutrient leaching. Residents are also advised to fasten loose objects, disconnect electrical appliances, and avoid tall trees to reduce risks during storms. Additionally, airline operators are urged to obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective operational planning. The severe weather forecast highlights the need for caution and preparedness to mitigate the risks associated with thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.
