The 2025 TechCamp in Abuja has concluded, with young participants as young as 10 years old showcasing innovative ideas in emerging technologies such as Artificial General Intelligence, robotics, 3D printing, and cyber safety. The one-month training program, organized by Intelcode and 3logy, combined hands-on training with real-world problem-solving, encouraging participants to blend innovation with ambition.
According to Nazira Aminu, Head of Training and Innovation at 3logy, the camp’s focus extended beyond artificial intelligence to explore the future of AGI, where technology becomes more intelligent and transformative. Aminu emphasized that the program aims to prepare Africa’s next generation of innovators, stating that participants are not just learners, but future creators of technology.
Notable participants included 10-year-old Khadija Bawa, who is building a robot to help people wash their hands without causing dryness, and 13-year-old Anwar Hamisu Idris, who presented a tracking robot designed to support military, security, and AI-related challenges. Despite their interests in technology, both Khadija and Anwar have diverse career aspirations, with Khadija wanting to become a lawyer and Anwar aiming to be a Formula 1 driver.
The camp attracted dozens of young participants who explored hands-on innovation in emerging technologies, encouraged to think about the intersection of technology with other fields. Aminu urged participants and parents to view the experience as the foundation of a lifelong journey in innovation, emphasizing that TechCamp is a gateway to building the future.
With participants like Khadija and Anwar already demonstrating innovative thinking and building early prototypes, TechCamp 2025 has reinforced its role as a launchpad for Nigeria’s next generation of thinkers, builders, and world changers. The program’s focus on emerging technologies and interdisciplinary approaches has provided young participants with a unique opportunity to develop technical skills and think creatively about the applications of technology. As the program comes to a close, it is clear that the experience will have a lasting impact on the participants and contribute to the development of Africa’s future innovators.
