Sokoto bandits attacks lawmaker provides relief materials

A recent surge in bandit attacks has affected several districts in Sokoto State, Nigeria, prompting a visit from Abdussamad Dasuki, a member of the House of Representatives. Dasuki, who represents the Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency, met with victims at Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in Kuchi and Jabo districts. He was represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, Attahiru Danmadi.

The lawmaker provided immediate relief materials, including food items and essentials, to those affected by the attacks. Dasuki assured the victims that necessary actions are being taken to ensure their safety and bring the perpetrators to justice. He expressed his commitment to using legislative means to address the ongoing security challenges in the area.

The affected villages in Kuchi district include Fakku, Sha’alwashi, Tulluwa, Bashi Bakin Dutse, and Rafin-Gora, while those in Jabo district include Gesolodi, Hilya, Guraye, Guma, Chakai, Modo, Badariya, Tafki, Balera, Gudumawa, and Rafin Shinkafa. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is collaborating with Dasuki to provide additional support to the victims.

Dasuki commended the response of security agencies to the crisis but urged them to intensify efforts to apprehend the criminals. He presented relief materials, including bags of maize, millet, and groundnut cake, to the victims and sympathized with families who lost loved ones in the attacks.

The recent attacks have resulted in the displacement of many residents, who are currently seeking shelter at the IDP camps. Dasuki’s visit is seen as a crucial step in addressing the humanitarian needs of the affected communities. The collaboration with NEMA is expected to yield more support for the victims, who are in dire need of assistance. The situation in Sokoto State remains a concern, and efforts to address the security challenges are ongoing.
