Dangote Rolls Out 4000 CNG Trucks Amid Monopoly Claims

Dangote Dismisses Monopoly Claims, Rolls Out 4,000 CNG Trucks

The President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has dismissed claims of monopoly in the petroleum downstream sector. At a press conference in Lagos, Dangote announced the rollout of 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks, which will be used to distribute fuel across the country. This move is part of the company’s efforts to modernize Nigeria’s transportation sector and stabilize fuel supply.

Dangote Group has invested ₦2 trillion in trucks and logistics, creating 24,000 jobs with salaries four times the minimum wage. The company has purchased 10,000 trucks, including CNG and dry cargo carriers, which will ease transportation and reduce logistics costs. By the end of November, 10,250 CNG trucks are expected to be in operation, with more trucks arriving daily.

The introduction of CNG trucks is a significant development in Nigeria’s energy sector, which has been plagued by fuel scarcity and logistics challenges. Dangote Refinery’s decision to use CNG trucks is expected to reduce the country’s reliance on diesel and petrol, and provide a more efficient and environmentally friendly way to transport fuel.

Dangote also announced plans to roll out electric vehicles by January 2026, alongside the refinery’s growing capacity. The company aims to modernize Nigeria’s transport sector, generate jobs, and make life easier for Nigerians. With the refinery’s current capacity to lift 40,000 tonnes of diesel every month, and over 1.6 billion litres of fuel exported, Dangote Group is positioning Nigeria as a hub for energy and industrial growth.

The rollout of CNG trucks is a major milestone in the company’s efforts to transform the country’s energy landscape. As Nigeria prepares to become the largest producer of fertiliser globally, Dangote Group’s investments in the energy sector are expected to have a positive impact on the country’s economy. With the company’s commitment to taking risks and investing in Nigeria’s future, the country is poised for significant growth and development in the coming years.
