Dangote Refinery ships petrol to New York

BREAKING: Dangote Refinery reduces fuel price nationwide

Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery has achieved a significant milestone with the arrival of its premium motor spirit, PMS, in New York, United States. The shipment, organized by Sunoco and Vitol, was delivered on the tanker Gemini Pearl, marking the first time the refinery’s product has reached the US market.

The 650,000-barrel-per-day Dangote refinery, located in Ibeju Lekki, has been making waves in the industry since its inception. According to Reuters, an additional shipment of Dangote petrol, sold to Shell by Glencore, is scheduled to arrive in New York on September 19. These deliveries represent a major breakthrough for the $20 billion refinery, solidifying its position as a key player in the global fuel market.

Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Refinery, announced that the refinery has exported 1.1 billion liters of petrol in just three months. He emphasized that the refinery’s primary goal is to make Nigeria a net exporter of fuel, effectively eradicating the era of petrol queues that has plagued the country since 1975. “We have been battling fuel queues since 1975, but today Nigerians are witnessing a new era,” Dangote stated.

The Dangote Refinery’s success is a significant development for Nigeria’s economy, as it aims to reduce the country’s reliance on fuel imports. With a production capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, the refinery is poised to meet the country’s fuel demands and potentially export surplus products to other markets. The refinery’s achievement is a testament to Nigeria’s growing presence in the global energy sector, and its impact is expected to be felt in the coming months.

As the refinery continues to expand its reach, it is likely to have a positive impact on the global fuel market. The upcoming shipment of Dangote petrol to New York will be closely watched by industry experts, who will be eager to see how the refinery’s products perform in the US market. With its significant production capacity and growing exports, the Dangote Refinery is set to play a major role in shaping the future of the global energy sector.
