Rivers State Governor Acknowledges Political Crisis

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has reportedly acknowledged the existence of a severe political crisis in the state, which led to the declaration of a state of emergency for six months. This revelation was made known by Taofiq Raimi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’ program on Friday.

According to Raimi, Governor Fubara identified key actors involved in the crisis, including his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is currently the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. Fubara allegedly referred to Wike as “our leader.” The governor also acknowledged his own role in the crisis, as well as that of the State Assembly. Raimi noted that Fubara commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his efforts in brokering a peaceful resolution to the crisis, describing the president’s actions as those of a “father.”

The acknowledgment of the crisis by Governor Fubara has effectively put to rest any controversy surrounding the existence of the political turmoil. Raimi further stated that Fubara announced that peace has been restored in the state, and the focus will now shift to maintaining democratic rule and exploring ways to develop the state. This development marks a significant step towards stability in Rivers State, following a period of intense political unrest.

The declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State was a response to the escalating crisis, which had raised concerns about the safety and security of citizens. The involvement of key political figures, including the governor and his predecessor, had contributed to the complexity of the situation. With the acknowledgment of the crisis and the efforts towards resolution, the state can now begin to work towards rebuilding and moving forward.

The role of President Buhari in brokering peace has been seen as a crucial step in resolving the crisis. As the leader of the country, his intervention helped to alleviate tensions and paved the way for a peaceful resolution. The focus on democratic rule and development in Rivers State is expected to bring about positive changes and improve the lives of citizens.
