Flutterwave, a leading payments technology company, has announced a strategic reorganization of its leadership team in risk management, compliance, regulatory, and legal affairs. This move is part of a planned succession strategy aimed at reinforcing the company’s commitment to global standards and sustainable growth.
Prashant Kalia, a seasoned executive with more than two decades of experience in risk and compliance, has been appointed Chief Risk and Compliance Officer. His background includes leadership roles at Circle, Stripe, Amazon, and American Express. Kalia began his career at McKinsey, advising technology companies after earning an MBA from Columbia University. He then spent over a decade at American Express, holding various positions, including Chief Credit Officer for Corporate Payment Services in Europe and Asia. Prior to joining Flutterwave, he held risk and compliance leadership positions at Amazon, Stripe, and Circle. His appointment underscores Flutterwave’s dedication to upholding the highest standards in risk management and compliance as it expands globally.
As part of the reorganization, Mobolaji Bammeke, the former Chief Compliance Officer, will transition to Chief Regulatory and Data Protection Officer. In this role, Bammeke will oversee regulatory compliance for Flutterwave in Nigeria and focus on navigating regulatory environments and ensuring data‑privacy compliance across all operating markets.
Oluwabankole Falade, who has served as Chief Regulatory and Public Policy Officer and recently assumed the role of Chief Legal Officer, will continue as Chief Legal, Regulatory, and Public Policy Officer. This change is expected to provide synergy and clarity across these vital functions.
Amaresh Mohan, the outgoing Chief Risk Officer, will remain as a Strategic Advisor to Prashant Kalia and Founder and CEO Olugbenga Agboola to ensure a seamless transition. According to Agboola, “These key changes demonstrate our proactive approach to risk management, compliance, regulatory, and legal affairs. Prashant’s deep expertise in risk and compliance will be invaluable as we continue to scale globally.”
The reorganization is seen as a significant step in strengthening Flutterwave’s risk management and compliance framework, ensuring continued growth and success in the global payments industry. With the new leadership structure, Flutterwave is well positioned to navigate the complexities of the global regulatory landscape while maintaining the highest standards of compliance and risk management.
