President Bola Tinubu attended the wedding Fatiha of Nasirudeen, son of former Zamfara Governor Sen. Abdul’Aziz Yari, at the Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna on Friday. The event drew a large crowd of top political leaders, traditional rulers, and industry captains from across Nigeria.

Security measures were heightened in Kaduna ahead of the ceremony, with surveillance increased and hotels fully booked by guests. On the day of the wedding, a heavy security presence was noticeable around the mosque, with restrictions placed on vehicular movement. President Tinubu was received at the Kaduna International Airport by Gov. Uba Sani and was greeted by party loyalists and residents who lined the streets, waving banners and chanting solidarity songs.

The wedding ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Gov. Umar Bago of Niger, Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina, and Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara. Other notable attendees included the Minister of State, Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, and former Governors Sule Lamido of Jigawa, Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto, and Adamu Aliero of Kebbi. Traditional rulers, such as the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmad Bamali, were also in attendance.

Renowned clerics, including Sheikh Kabiru Gombe and Sheikh Bala Lau, offered prayers for the couple and the country. The groom, Nasirudeen, married Safiyya Shehu Idris, daughter of Shehu Tahir-Malumfashi. Following the ceremony, President Tinubu visited the residence of late President Muhammadu Buhari to condole with his family. He praised Buhari as a selfless leader who made significant contributions to Nigeria’s unity and progress, assuring the family of his continued support.

The wedding was described by residents as one of the largest social and political gatherings in recent times, with the city experiencing heavy vehicular and human traffic despite restrictions. The event highlighted the significance of traditional and cultural ceremonies in Nigerian society, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds and professions.
