PDP Declares Kebbi LG Congress Peaceful and Transparent

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria has successfully conducted its local government congress in Kebbi State, describing the exercise as peaceful, transparent, and orderly. According to Muhammad Aliyu-Goronyo, the chairman of the congress monitoring team and also the PDP chairman in Sokoto State, the congress was well-organized across the 21 local government areas (LGAs) of Kebbi State.

The monitoring team, led by Aliyu-Goronyo, visited several congress venues, including those in Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo, Bunza, Jega, and Argungu LGAs, to oversee the exercise. Aliyu-Goronyo expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the congress, noting the early turnout of delegates and the unity among party members. He attributed the success of the congress to the peaceful atmosphere and the orderly conduct of delegates, which he believes is a testament to the party’s potential victory in the 2027 general elections.

In areas where multiple candidates contested, delegates voted, while consensus candidates were affirmed in line with party rules. The active participation of youth and women in the congress was also commended by Aliyu-Goronyo, who noted their impressive turnout and orderly conduct. Retired General Aminu Bande, the PDP’s 2023 governorship candidate in Kebbi, applauded the roles of security agencies, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials, and the media in ensuring a smooth exercise.

The successful conduct of the local government congress is a significant step for the PDP in Kebbi State, as the party now looks forward to its State Executive Congress scheduled for September 27. Bande expressed optimism about the party’s chances in the 2027 general elections, citing the unity and cohesion among party members as key factors. The outcome of the local government congress is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the party’s strategy for the upcoming elections. With the congress now concluded, the PDP in Kebbi State is poised to move forward with its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
