Police in Jigawa State have arrested four suspects in connection with cattle rustling and car theft in Hadejia town. According to SP Shiisu Lawan, spokesman for the command, the arrests were made on September 17 and 18.
On September 18, police operatives from the Hadejia Area Command apprehended a 47-year-old suspect from Garin Mutumdaya village in Kiriksamma Local Government Area, who was found in possession of two stolen bulls in the Kwanar Bazawarai area of Hadejia town. The suspect was detained, and the animals were recovered. An investigation into the case is ongoing, with efforts being made to arrest the suspect’s accomplices.
In a separate incident, three suspects were arrested on September 17 for alleged car theft in Hadejia. The stolen vehicle was recovered in good condition, and the suspects will be charged to court once the investigation is complete.
The Commissioner of Police, Dahiru Muhammad, commended the officers for their vigilance and determination in combating crime across the state. He reiterated the commitment to intensify patrol, raid, and surveillance to rid the state of criminal activities. The commissioner urged residents to support the police with credible information to prevent and detect crimes, and to remain law-abiding.
