APC Defends Governor Over Peace Comments

The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has defended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori against criticisms from politicians who allegedly took his recent comments out of context. The governor had emphasized his administration’s commitment to peace and unity, stating that he would not tolerate political or ethnic conflict during his tenure.

While addressing stakeholders, Governor Oborevwori declared that his primary concern is the general peace in Delta State, enabling him to work for the benefit of all residents. He noted that every Deltan, regardless of their tribe and religion, voted for him, and he intends to maintain a neutral stance to ensure inclusive governance.

The APC, in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, described the governor’s message as a straightforward commitment to lasting peace and development. The party accused political opponents of attempting to “weaponise” the governor’s comments for selfish purposes, which it sees as a sign of fear due to his achievements.

The APC urged residents to disregard “false narratives” from opposition figures, assuring that the governor remains committed to leaving a legacy of peace, security, and sustainable development. The party linked the governor’s stance to his M.O.R.E. Agenda, which focuses on meaningful development, opportunities for all, realistic reforms, and enhanced peace and security.

According to Onojeghuo, Delta State is currently experiencing greater safety and stability than in recent years, thanks to the administration’s emphasis on fairness, equity, and justice. The governor’s fairness in governance is credited with strengthening security, expanding infrastructure, and creating opportunities for economic growth.

The APC’s defense of Governor Oborevwori highlights the ongoing debate about governance and development in Delta State. As the state continues to navigate its development trajectory, the governor’s commitment to peace and unity remains a crucial aspect of his administration’s agenda. With the M.O.R.E. Agenda as its guiding framework, the state government aims to build on its achievements and ensure a brighter future for all residents.
