The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has issued a weather forecast predicting rainy and thundery conditions across the country from Monday to Wednesday. According to the agency’s weather outlook, isolated thunderstorms with light rains are expected in various regions.

On Monday, the northern region is anticipated to experience isolated thunderstorms with light rains over parts of Adamawa and Taraba during the morning hours. Later in the day, similar conditions are expected over parts of Kaduna, Gombe, Kebbi, Zamfara, Adamawa, Bauchi, Southern Borno, and Taraba. The central region is expected to have a cloudy atmosphere with sunshine intervals, while the southern region is predicted to have a cloudy atmosphere with prospects of isolated thunderstorms with light rains.

The agency forecasts that on Tuesday, the northern region will have a cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine, with prospects of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Taraba and Adamawa during the morning period. The central region is expected to experience isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains, while the southern region is anticipated to have thunderstorms with moderate rains over parts of Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Lagos, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Anambra, Bayelsa, Enugu, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River.

On Wednesday, the northern region is expected to have a cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine, with prospects of thunderstorms and light rains over parts of Kaduna, Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, Adamawa, and Taraba. The central region is anticipated to experience isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains, while the southern region is expected to have cloudy skies with prospects of light rains over parts of Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has advised states with the possibility of flash floods to activate emergency response plans immediately. The public is cautioned to drive carefully under rainy conditions and take necessary precautions to ensure safety. Farmers are advised to refrain from applying fertilizer and pesticides before the rains, and residents are urged to stay informed through weather updates from the agency’s website. Airline operators are also advised to obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective planning.
