Lil Kesh Assault: Two Suspects Arrested in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has apprehended two key suspects in connection with the violent attack on Nigerian musician Keshinro Ololade, also known as Lil Kesh. The arrested individuals, Mathew Adewole, 25, and Mukhtar Muhammad, 31, were taken into custody on September 11, 2025, in Na’ibawa Quarters, Kano, following an intensive intelligence-driven operation that lasted several weeks.

According to SP Abdullahi Haruna, the Command’s spokesperson, Adewole confessed to leading the assault on Lil Kesh’s residence in Bera Estate, Chevron, Lagos, on August 19, 2025. During the incident, the artist suffered a severe neck wound, which police have described as an attempted murder. Investigations further revealed that Adewole coerced Lil Kesh into transferring ₦2.12 million from his bank account to Muhammad’s account before fleeing the scene.

The successful arrest is attributed to the Command’s strengthened intelligence capabilities and collaborative efforts with the community. This development aligns with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to enhance intelligence operations and curb violent crime. The suspects have been transferred to the Lagos State Police Command for additional investigations and prosecution.

The Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the operatives for their prompt response and thanked the public for their cooperation. This breakthrough underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to addressing violent crimes and ensuring public safety. With the suspects now in custody, the case will proceed to the next stage of investigation and prosecution, aiming to bring those responsible to justice. The outcome of this case is anticipated to serve as a deterrent to potential perpetrators of similar crimes, promoting a safer environment for individuals, including public figures like Lil Kesh.
