African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo has expressed confidence that his party will emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election in Nigeria. In a recent interview on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ program, Okonkwo stated that the ADC would not only form the next government but also defeat the current administration, led by President Bola Tinubu.
Okonkwo, a veteran Nollywood actor turned politician, emphasized that the 2027 election would be a true test of the ADC’s strength, as it would be the first major election under the new leadership of David Mark. He noted that previous primaries were conducted before Mark’s leadership took hold, and therefore, the outcomes may not accurately reflect the party’s current potential.
The ADC chieftain also discussed the party’s structure, revealing that it has a presence in all 36 states of Nigeria. In Rivers State, specifically, Okonkwo acknowledged that former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi is a prominent leader of the ADC, and it would be fitting to regard him as the party’s leader in the state.
Okonkwo’s statement comes as Nigeria prepares for its next general election, scheduled for 2027. The ADC, as one of the major opposition parties, is expected to play a significant role in the electoral process. With Okonkwo’s prediction, the party is gearing up to challenge the incumbent administration and potentially send President Tinubu back to his hometown of Bourdillon.
As the 2027 election approaches, the ADC’s performance will be closely watched, both domestically and internationally. The party’s ability to mobilize support and present a viable alternative to the current government will be crucial in determining its chances of success. With its presence in all 36 states and notable leaders like Amaechi, the ADC is poised to be a significant player in Nigeria’s upcoming electoral landscape.
