APC Leader Insists CPC No Longer Exists

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has been urged to focus on strengthening its structure, as a former party official emphasized that one of its legacy parties, the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, is no longer in existence. Waziri Bulama, former Acting National Secretary of the APC, made this statement during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’ program.

Bulama clarified that the CPC, as a political entity, has been absorbed into the APC, taking its ideals, aspirations, and commitments with it. He noted that the key figures who met with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar were former leaders of the CPC in Adamawa state, who had rallied under the now-defunct party before its dissolution in 2013.

The meeting with Atiku Abubakar was seen as an attempt to revive the CPC, but Bulama and other party members, led by Senator Tanko Al-Makura, have dismissed this effort as a false and mischievous attempt to disrupt the APC. According to Bulama, the APC has moved on from its legacy parties, and it is essential for the party to channel its energies towards strengthening its current structure.

The CPC was one of the parties that merged to form the APC in 2013, aiming to create a stronger opposition to the then-ruling party. The APC has since become a major force in Nigerian politics, and its leaders are working to maintain unity and stability within the party. By emphasizing that the CPC is no longer in existence, Bulama is encouraging party members to focus on the present and future of the APC, rather than revisiting its past legacy.

As the APC continues to navigate Nigeria’s complex political landscape, its ability to maintain cohesion and direction will be crucial in determining its success. By acknowledging the absorption of its legacy parties, the APC can work towards building a stronger, more unified front, and Bulama’s statement serves as a reminder of the importance of moving forward and strengthening the party’s current structure.
