I don't have anything to prove anymore - Ayra Starr boasts

Spotify has unveiled its list of the top five female Afrobeats artists over the past 12 months, with Nigerian singer Ayra Starr claiming the top spot. The streaming platform highlighted Starr as a prominent figure in the Afrobeats genre. Grammy‑winning Nigerian vocalist Tems secured second place, followed by American‑Cameroonian singer Libianca in third. Malian‑French star Aya Nakamura and British‑Nigerian singer Darkoo rounded out the top five. Notably, South African singer Tyla was absent from the list despite recent successes at major Afrobeats awards.

In addition to the female rankings, Spotify released a list of the top five Afrobeats artists in Latin America. Nigerian musicians dominated this chart, with Rema taking first place, Ayra Starr second, and CKay third. Burna Boy and Wizkid claimed the fourth and fifth positions, respectively. These announcements underscore the growing influence of Afrobeats on the global music scene and its ability to resonate with diverse audiences, particularly in Latin America.

The rankings are based on artists’ performance on Spotify over the last year, considering stream counts and user engagement. As streaming platforms like Spotify continue to boost visibility for musicians worldwide, Afrobeats is benefiting from increased exposure. The evolving genre promises shifts in future rankings, and it will be interesting to see which new artists emerge as major forces in the Afrobeats landscape.
