I got pregnant at 20 - Eniola Ajao narrates

Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao has confirmed that a blogger was arrested and prosecuted after sharing a video of her at the burial ceremony of actor Odunlade Adekola’s father. The clip, which showed Ajao hiding and behaving unusually after greeting Odunlade’s wife, sparked widespread criticism and speculation about her relationship with the actor in August. Ajao had previously denied the allegations, calling them an attempt to damage her reputation.

The blogger, Adabasioni Oluwafemi Aseoro, was charged under the Nigerian Cyber Crime Act for criminal defamation and cyberbullying. According to Ajao, Adabasioni manipulated the video to create a false narrative online, leading to her being ridiculed. She said he was detained for two weeks at Ikoyi Prison for his actions. Ajao also shared a video of Adabasioni apologising to her and urging other bloggers to remove the clip.

Ajao’s decision to take legal action marks a significant step in her effort to clear her name and protect her reputation. The incident highlights the importance of verifying information online and the potential consequences of spreading false or manipulated content. It also underscores the need for bloggers and social‑media users to be aware of Nigeria’s laws governing online activities.

In recent years, Nigeria has taken steps to regulate online conduct and combat cybercrime. The Cyber Crime Act provides a framework for prosecuting individuals who engage in online harassment, defamation and other cyber offences. The case against Adabasioni serves as a reminder of the need for responsible online behaviour and respect for individuals’ rights and reputations. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, more cases like this are likely, emphasizing the need for greater awareness and understanding of online laws and regulations.
