Top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Nigeria, have voiced their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re‑election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections. Former national chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin convened a group of key party stakeholders to rally backing for the president. Ganduje said that APC members in Kano are united and determined to work toward the party’s success in 2027, emphasizing that the party stands firmly behind President Tinubu, appreciates his policy reforms, and acknowledges the progress made in Kano State. He also praised the president’s appointments of individuals from Kano, noting the party’s gratitude for those efforts.

Deputy Senate President Barau described the meeting as strategic, stressing the need to inform the people of Kano and the broader northern region about the president’s achievements. He reiterated the party’s support for Tinubu, echoing Ganduje’s sentiments. Other participants included Minister of State for Housing Alhaji Abdullahi Atta, Senator Kawu Sumaila, and Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation Hon. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar. Hon. Abubakar Bichi highlighted the president’s work on critical projects such as road development in Kano and dismissed claims that Tinubu is indifferent to the North or Kano as mere political maneuvering.

The gathering underscores the APC’s commitment to Tinubu’s re‑election campaign, with key stakeholders pledging their support and emphasizing the importance of showcasing the president’s achievements to the people of Kano and the wider northern region. Given Kano State’s pivotal role in Nigerian politics, the party’s ability to rally support and maintain unity will be crucial as the 2027 elections approach. With backing from influential figures in Kano, President Tinubu’s re‑election bid has received a significant boost, setting the stage for a competitive election season.
