The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged its newly graduated cadets with upholding integrity, courage, and professionalism as they join the nation’s fight against economic and financial crimes. At the Passing Out Parade of the 404 Detective Superintendent Course 10 and Detective Inspector Course 7, held at the Nigeria Police Mobile Force Training College in Nasarawa State, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede emphasized the importance of personal discipline and accountability. He noted that the commission maintains zero tolerance for corruption and compromise and has invested heavily in training officers to be “moulded and grounded in sound intellect, physical agility, courageous comportment, and accountable conduct.”
The graduating cadets have undergone rigorous training that equipped them with the skills and knowledge needed to tackle economic and financial crimes effectively. In his remarks, Chairman Olukoyede praised the success of the program and acknowledged the support of President Bola Tinubu, Inspector‑General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, and Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State. He also appreciated the demonstrators of support for law enforcement and the fight against economic and financial crimes.
Governor Sule called for the establishment of a special court to handle corruption cases, citing the need for efficient and effective justice delivery. He highlighted that the EFCC’s efforts have yielded significant results, including over 4,000 convictions in 2024, and commended the EFCC chairman and management for their commitment to fighting corruption and financial crimes in Nigeria.
The Acting Commandant of the EFCC Academy, ACE 1 Joseph Ogwiji, stated that the cadets displayed high levels of discipline, resilience, and adherence to the officer’s code of duty. Senators and members of the House Committee on Financial Crimes also attended the event, pledging their support for the EFCC and emphasizing the importance of integrity, courage, and transparency in the fight against corruption.
The graduation of the new cadets represents a significant boost to Nigeria’s fight against economic and financial crimes. With continued support from the government and legislative bodies, the EFCC is well positioned to succeed in its mission to rid the nation of corrupt practices. The commission’s efforts have already shown promising results, and the addition of highly trained officers is expected to further enhance its capabilities.
