Kano pilgrims board fixes N8.2m Hajj fare — Daily Nigerian

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has set the fare for the 2026 hajj exercise at N8.2 million, in accordance with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria’s directive. This decision was confirmed by the Board’s Director-General, Lamin Danbappa, through a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Dederi.

The approved fare applies to all intending pilgrims, and those who had previously deposited N8.5 million will be eligible for a refund of the balance after submitting a written request to the Board. Pilgrims making fresh payments are expected to pay the newly approved amount of N8.2 million.

The payment deadline for the 2026 hajj exercise remains December 31, 2025. The Director-General urged intending pilgrims to complete their payments before this date to secure their hajj slots. This announcement provides clarity on the costs associated with the pilgrimage and allows prospective participants to plan accordingly.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria’s directive aims to standardize the fare for the hajj exercise across the country, ensuring that all pilgrims are aware of the costs involved. The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board’s approval of the N8.2 million fare brings it in line with this national guideline.

As the deadline for payment approaches, intending pilgrims are advised to finalize their arrangements to avoid missing the opportunity to participate in the 2026 hajj exercise. The Board’s decision to refund the balance to pilgrims who had paid more than the approved fare demonstrates its commitment to ensuring a smooth and fair process for all participants.

The hajj pilgrimage is a significant event in the Islamic calendar, and the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board’s efforts to facilitate the process for intending pilgrims are crucial in enabling them to fulfill this important religious obligation. With the payment deadline looming, prospective pilgrims must take prompt action to secure their places for the 2026 hajj exercise.
