A Member of Parliament in Ghana has distributed over 12,000 textbooks to schools in his constituency to improve teaching and learning. Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah, representing the Ahafo Ano South West Constituency, supplied 12,406 books to primary and junior high schools. The textbooks include 5,406 English reading books for lower primary students, 2,000 Twi reading books, and 3,000 English language books for upper primary students. Additionally, 2,000 English books were given to junior high schools.

This initiative comes as enrollment in the constituency has increased, with 10,794 pupils at the primary level and 7,843 students at the junior high school level. The distribution of textbooks aims to support the growing number of students and enhance education delivery in the area.

According to Mr. Dapaah, the provision of textbooks is part of his commitment to promoting quality education and ensuring that all children have access to learning materials. He emphasized that literacy is the foundation for academic success and that the textbooks will help build a stronger reading culture among pupils. The gesture is also expected to ease the burden on parents and teachers.
