The Federal Government of Nigeria has affirmed that the country is progressing in the right direction under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the nation commemorates its 65th anniversary of independence.
At a world press conference held in Abuja on Monday, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, shared their assessments of the country’s progress. Senator Akume emphasized that Independence Day serves as a moment for reflection, acknowledging the trials and triumphs Nigeria has faced since gaining independence in 1960. He noted that despite challenges, the Nigerian spirit remains unbroken.
Minister Idris highlighted several economic indicators that demonstrate the country’s positive trajectory, including a decline in inflation, which stood at 21.12 percent, falling food prices, and stability in the value of the Naira. Additionally, he cited improved oil production, increased revenue to states, and growing external reserves as evidence of the nation’s progress. According to Minister Idris, these developments are a testament to the effective reforms implemented under President Tinubu’s administration.
The minister attributed the country’s progress to President Tinubu’s efforts to address obstacles hindering Nigeria’s growth. He stated that the president is laying the groundwork for a national renewal focused on prosperity, peace, and unity. Minister Idris urged Nigerians to maintain their faith in the country and President Tinubu’s vision for a renewed and greater nation.
This year’s Independence Day theme, “Nigeria 65: All hands on deck for greater Nation,” reflects the government’s emphasis on collective effort and cooperation to drive the country’s development. As Nigeria marks this significant milestone, the government’s affirmation of progress under President Tinubu’s leadership serves as a call to action for citizens to contribute to the country’s continued growth and prosperity. With a renewed sense of purpose, Nigerians can work together to address the nation’s challenges and build a brighter future.
